An Animal Portrait is something very special. Most of the time it is your own pet, which has a special place in your heart. That makes it all the more incredible for me to receive the honor of drawing this very special pet. For the owner this drawing is just incredibly important. I myself have an animal portrait of my dog that passed away and I wouldn’t give it for anything in the world.
That’s why I am very happy when I get a request for an animal portrait, because with my skill I create something that, for the owner, has emotionally great value. But what do you have to think of with commission an animal portrait? All the important points I summarized here.
Your Animal Portrait Idea
In order to make your pet portrait as accurate as you want it, I need as much information as possible. Take a look at my portfolio for some inspiration. In the process, I will likely pose the following points to you. If you can, give them some prior thought so that we find what you would like.
- Motive (e.g. pet or favorite animal)
- Background (e.g. white or in color)
- Any additional items (e.g. collar, crown, flower crown)
- Size (Din-A sizes or individual size)
- Preferred materials (e.g. pastels, color pencils)
Especially for drawing pets, I need a reference photo! It should have a good quality and be taken in natural light so that the colors appear as realistic as possible.
Of course, the price question arises again and again regarding an animal portrait drawing. For more detailed information, click here. The prices depend heavily on the size of the animal portrait and also which medium is to be used.
